HerStory as told by Bianca

Hey 👋🏾. Hope all is well in your world. Happy Black History Month to all those who partake in the celebrations and uplifting of melanated people. We take the time to remember all of the great contributions of those before us. On this site I like to highlight the now and future of black greatness.

Today I have the pleasure of presenting you guys with a fairly amazing individual who goes by the name of Bianca. She has shared her sweet demeanor and treats with the world for a few years now and after taking a look around her content, I left both touched and hungry. Her food looks amazing and I'm sure tastes even better. I was very intrigued. Thankfully when I reached out to get a little more information about her why and business, she took the time to answer a few interview questions. Take a look below at the responses and how we all can support this business.

1. How long have you shared your art with the world and how did you start?

I have been sharing my art of baking with the world since 2015 by posting casually online, but it was not until June 2020 that I pursued baking as a business after being laid off due to Covid closures. I started at the age of 8 and since then would bake a cake or special desserts for close friends and family for their birthday or special events. I basically just love to see how blissful my baking makes others.

2. What or who is your biggest inspiration?

Well my inspiration for baking started with my maternal grandma at the age of 3 when I would help her make pies. (Pinch the pie crusts). My mom also allowed me to frost and decorate cakes that she frequently baked on Sundays. Those contributing components and a few others developed my love for baking further.

My biggest inspiration behind Bianca Bakes Bliss would have to be one of my oldest brothers Justin. His smile was so contagious and brought warmth to EVERYONE around him. Even though he was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, he managed to be a bright and refreshing light through all of his limitations and pain. *He is my namesake because as I was trying to find a synonym for Joy that began with a b to represent him I came across the word Bliss.

3. What do you want to leave behind?

I  just want to leave behind BLISS and feel like I have made the world a lighter place in some kind of way, one pastry at a time.  I get told often that I remind others of my brother Justin because of our similar smiles and personalities. I pray that I can touch at least half of the people he did in his 18 years of life.

4. What is it that the general public can do to support you?

The general public can support me by following me on

Instagram/Tik Tok @biancabakes_bliss

Facebook-Bianca Bakes Bliss

They would be able receive updates on when I do local markets or events. Once they follow I ask that they please like, share, and just engage with content as they are led. I love to talk with ALL of my followers (Bliss Buds)

5. What, if any, advice would you give to someone that is looking to grow within your field?

Advice that I would like give to someone looking to grow in the baking field would be to authentically be yourself. Be patient and consistent in your journey and content. Pursue the aspects of baking that you truly enjoy, but do not be afraid to experiment with recipes and techniques. Lastly, PRAY over your business, customers, and for the guidance and wisdom to operate in purpose. *Everyone is not your target customer/market especially friends and family.*

I would like to thank Bianca again for taking the time to answer a few questions, I hope that anyone who takes the time to read about her business would also check it out. All of the direct links are above. May the melanin madness continue throughout this month and beyond. Until the next "story", I am sending love ❤️.
