Hey. Hope all is well in your world. I feel like it was just summer last night but that slightly crisp air and the sun sliding down earlier, tells me otherwise. Fall is here and is off to a swift start. In the south we get a taste of cold weather every now and then, so any extreme drop leads to slight frenzy and people pulling out those gumbo pots. Let me tell you now that the smell of roux is filling the homes of many. I honestly would rather smell that than pumpkin spice candles. But that’s just me and a small portion of the people, i would guess. November is here and slipping out of grasp as the days wiz by, lets try to hold on to what's important and begin planning for the upcoming holidays.
I don't want to get to ahead of myself in this particular post, so I'll reel it back in. The thoughts of pumpkin flavors and lowered temperatures are very uplifting, and we are here now. The past 2 months came with a lot of wins for me personally and Fancy Vibes as a whole. My favorite experience in August was proper execution after being chosen to participate in the Spectacular Black Girl Art Show in Dallas, Texas.

If you happen to be a lover of art and melanin then i would heavily suggest checking the event out. It's year round and moves between Dallas, Atlanta, Michigan, DMV, Detroit, ) and highlights the art of black girls and women. The focus isn't simply visual arts. A multitude of individuals showcased musical talents, mixed media arts, and actually handmade products on site. The vibe was unmatched. Everyone I encountered was nothing but friendly and informative. We were pretty engaged from the beginning to the end of the event, but I did take a stroll through the venue once everything began to document most of the participants and have an account of the art be shown.
We are now carrying art prints on the site and I'm so proud. If you hit the shop tab it will be in the "art collection" or you can head directly there (https://www.afancyvibe.com/shop-1) . It's most of what was shown at the art show. I promise, little me would be so proud. I actually based my first mini collection on my favorite video games growing up. It was all well received and although it's wasn't necessary, it surely felt lovely.
Moving into September felt like growth pains and yet another retrograde courtesy of mercury. I'm not an avid astrology believer but I did realize that the past few weeks have been difficult for everyone. It could be the effects of inflation, the societal tension rising, the everlasting pandemic, and sooo many other things; however, a large portion of the world hangs the woes on Mercury
Retrograde. If you didn't take the time to create a new tab and read a little on it when you first heard about it, let me give you a little more information about it below. I knew nothing of it until a maybe two years ago when the internet began buzzing frequently with the term. Three times a year, the planet Mercury appears to travel backward across the sky. We refer to these periods as times when Mercury is in apparent retrograde motion, or simply ”Mercury retrograde.”
Now in terms of astrology the term refers to a few different things. "Mercury Retrograde (and any other planetary retrograde) is a significant astrological event that can impact our lives. Mercury Retrograde impacts all forms of communication and the way we think about things. During these periods, we often experience delays, mix-ups, and accidents when it comes to communication, transportation, and technology. Connections of all kinds don’t seem to follow the rules we’ve become accustomed to.
There are many negative associations with Mercury Retrograde, but that’s just one way to look at it. Keep in mind that along with all astrological activity, Mercury Retrograde is not doing something to us. It’s simply reflecting our experience here on Earth." https://www.sagegoddess.com/what-is-mercury-retrograde/

Be prepared, another one is coming at the end of this year heading into 2023.
I struggled a lot during that whole retrograde period but, still snagged a two week trip with a good friend of mine to decompress in Boston, Massachusetts. Started October up north and that was cool. It was my first time visiting and definitely something that was beneficial to my overall health. We both are in a period of transition and change is uncomfortable, sometimes scary. It wasn't a vacation centered around dressing fancy, eating expensive, or going out to clubs. The trip was centered around resting, forming better habits, getting inspiration artistically, and being in another space far away from the daily mandates that usually plague us. We explored, continued working out, ate out sparingly, and focused on reenergizing ourselves in a new place. The different outlook i have concerning a lot of things and issues that have shown face since we have been back, allows me to feel as though it was worth the journey. I haven’t had a nice two week trip up north in like three years, it was well worth it actually. I was able to check out a few art exhibits, including one at Harvard ( free entry to the museum on Sundays). I made sure to try and stay up on my weight loss journey, paying attention to what i eat, and working out in a beautiful environment. The few food places we tapped in to were okay. The pizza and parmesan chicken calzone at Regina Pizzaria was literally the best.
The end of the year is pretty much here. The lessons, experiences, and wins have added to the journey. I hope these last two months are filled with positive experiences and dealings for every eye present here
