19 Days Past May

Hey 👋🏾 Hope all is well in your world. I was getting into the groove of blogging at least montly until May sat me down with all of the shenanigans. Im usually with all of the uplifting and well wishes, but today is about transparency.
If I can be honest with you, I’ll say that May was an extremely hard month to climb up out of. I feel like that month in particular sent more than a few people into a hard space. Maybe it was retrograde, ehh who knows. After speaking to my village and a few people around me, it was evident that i was not alone. If you made it through to June, I’m beyond happy for you.
As of the beginning of the month, I‘m still in a state of adjustment after a significant move. Artistically, Im in this weird space of monetizing everything and ironically enough, I’m having a hard time with it. I didn’t feel content completely with the details and components of this move so I am able to venture across state lines happily and frequently. I kept my previous spot as an option. I’ll be back in that space preparing for fashion week and events surrounding it with my sewing team. Grateful to be able to go where its best to get things done. The past 90 days with this store set up was a learning experience and I’m grateful it has come to an end.
May held a loss I could have never prepared for. My grandmother passed at the end of the month and it has taken a toll on me and my family. Most families have a pillar, or an elder that connects everyone. A strong figurehead that guides each generation and leaves a lasting impact on a majority of the decedent. Everyone has a story about her. A community mother figure. A well known seamstress for decades. I could go on but i won‘t. I‘ll share her legacy in a few pics below. I had been with my grandmother since I was 5 days old, they’ll be no one to impact me as much as her. I‘ll miss her forever but carry her legacy with me and express it every time I sit behind the sewing machine.
Fancy Vibes is preparing to showcase at Acadiana Fashion Week on July 22nd and I am surely hype about it. I look forward to this season after the sometimes stressful prom season. Below I’ll show the two dresses I was able to get accomplished this year. I couldn’t take too much on this time simply because it would have been crazy amongst the store preparations and moving. I am however happy about what I was able to do. If you are interested in Acadiana Fashion Week I’ll be including a link to the page to check out the content and ticket options.
It also wouldn’t hurt you to check out a few impromptu videos and pics of Fancy Vibes at previous years at AFW.
