HerStory as told by “Jazz”

Hey 👋🏾 Hope all is well in your world. On this particular “Fat Tuesday”, I have the pleasure of presenting one of thee most amazingly strong and inspirational people I know; Jasmine E. You may hear her referred to by the more intimate name of Ziggy or “Jazz”. We became closer under the worst circumstance, but the connection is priceless. She is an amazing photographer, specializing in outdoor shooting, with a dash of graphic design. We have worked together for a few projects and it’s been nothing but quality work and positive vibes. I could go on, but you get the idea; she is just a pretty awesome person. Zig took the time to answer a few questions surrounding her craft and how we can support her art.

How long have you shared your art with the world and how did you start?

It has been a few months from 5 years now.

The way i started/what made me start was the day i went to my best friends maternity shoot. We were in houston at a nice sized building with all the lights, backdrops, props etc. As they took their photos i guess something just sparked in me, i loved what i was seeing and that was simply sharing your view of things/people through a camera.

What or who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is GOD, because of GOD i was able to walk through tragedy and i came out a different person. When GOD called my little sister(Ashley N. Metz) home it was for a reason, i know that it would hurt GOD to see us hurting, mourning, and grieving but it was for a bigger plan. Sometimes the sacrifice is to cause a shift in our lives, and i know because mine has never been the same since my shift!

What do you want to leave behind?

What i would want to leave behind is the faith i have flowing in my veins, i pray that it would reach people who feels as if they are lacking in life. So they could know that the story doesn’t have to make sense when you are walking with the Lord.

What is it that the general public can do to support you?

To support me you all can just share a post of mine if you see one on your timeline, tag me, at me,or just simply tell a friend about my work.

What, if any, advice would you give to someone that is looking to grow within your field?

My advice to someone who is looking to grow in this field would be to network. Get in these photographers inboxes that inspire you, they can be local or out of state. You may get a few snobby ones but believe me there are way more people that will be open to sharing their knowledge. The next one would be to take their time while shooting, believe me 1 good photo will save you alot of memory on your computer lol versus 10 rushed shots.
