Hey šš¾ Hope all is well in your world! We are literally 2 months away from 2022. Congratulations on making it this far. Iām sure itās been a journey, but you are here. šš¾ You deserve kindness and I hope you are spreading some. š
Let the road from fall straight into winter be one filled with great times and experiences. I was so pleased to see all of the kids in costume and the family unit themed ones were top tier. Everyone really made a point to complete looks, and in my opinion the detailing is what really just takes it over the top. This year I made it a point to express myself artistically more and partake in Halloween festivities by playing in my makeup. I usually donāt participate in traditional holiday celebrations out of personal preference, but this year I wanted to do something outside of stepping out into the newest taste of cold weather in Louisiana last weekend. Recreating a few favorite green based characters actually seemed like the best idea. I rarely ever do unconventional makeup, so be gentle in judgement with meāŗļø
I used the Makeup Forever Flash Color Palette (cream colors) and KVD Lock-It Concealer (white out) in every look I created.
I pretty much had to turn my face white as a base for each look. The concealer mixed with the creams allowed me to build the opacity in layers and have an even base to work on blending wise. A beauty blender was my tool of choice and got the job done in a timely manner with no streaks. All of the looks were set with Laura Mercier translucent powder except for the FancySon look. I probably should have used something bc the creams started to move around. š„² In the picture you can see the mouth line is kind of smudged. š®āšØ At the point at which I noticed, it was a little to late to adjust and we just rocked with the slight imperfection.
It was hard to find inspirational pictures for the Squilliam FancySon costume so a DIY costume was the only way⦠The nose was the thumb of a cut latex glove that was covered with a blend of cream from the flash palette. So above you have a Squilliam FancySon inspired makeup look and costume on a black woman. āŗļø For once. On the internet.
Shego of Kim Possible was another look I executed for the holiday season. I really didnāt have a hard time finding any inspirational pictures because a fair
amount of people give their take
on her character. This is mine āŗļø pictured above.
The Joker costume and makeup look for Halloween was a fave of mine to actually do. I got to have a little more fun with this one makeup wise. I set everything with a close eyeshadow match to the cream colors I used. I found it gave some areas a nice ombrƩ look. There was so many ways I could have taken this look but the newer joker appealed to me most for this particular Halloween look.
This oompa loompa of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory makeup or costume look was literally my favorite one visually. It was another makeup look that was hard to locate many women of color executing. I looked on both google and Pinterest to predominately find pictures of women who didnāt look like me. So I hope that when one searches Oompa Loompa makeup on black women its one more picture out there. šš¾
I hope you enjoyed your Halloween season doing what makes you and yours happy. Anything from pumpkin carving and intake to the act of trick or treating and all of the celebrations in between. Iāve had a lot of changes occur in my life lately and something as small is making and executing these looks really uplifted me this season⦠I hope November holds nothing but beautiful victories for me and whomever is currently reading this ā¤ļø.
